Flocking Reynolds

In class today I talked about flocking. Someone implemented Craig Reynolds flocking in WebGL. Watch it here - be a little patient, may take some time to load.

Rendering Animators Obsolete

Now that the semester is over I can safely tell you that in Maya you can actually have the computer do everything for you. Just watch this tutorial (via the Hollywood ASIFA Educators Mailing List)

Atomic Movements

If you think animating in Maya is tedious, consider this:

This movie was actually made by moving individual atoms. Here is a "Making Of"

Brothers Quay - Student Animations

If you need inspiration, go visit the Brothers Quay exhibition at the MoMa. Great decors are on display, showing how you can use a small space to create a big world.

And don't forget about MetroCAF this Friday!

Teeny Tiny

I'm a bit under the weather and since there is nothing on the Tube worth watching (if you only have bunny ears) I am browsing through YouTube. And through the channel of a former student I came accross this one.

If you think animation is too big a job for you, look at this one:

Okay, maybe this just confirms your worst fears. But hey, it's Aardman!

Thank you again Bizarro for linking the Jersey Shore image

Mourir en Felt

I don't know if any of you entered for the sex show, but here is another animation I found on Drawn!

Update: Okay, so that one was removed, probably this Veronica did not have the rights to post it. Here's another one:

Leg with Muscles

Played with Maya Muscles a bit. IF you build a complete muscle system, you can get nice results. It is not compatible with regular smooth skins, setting it up can be quite involved. And just in case you missed the jiggle in the first jump I set it to be really jiggly for the second one.

This is the Animation I showed in ARIL 421 yesterday. For those interested: Mr. (or Ms.) subBlue from Glasgow, UK, has more videos posted

Disney Copy Machine

Disney had great footage they used to trace snow white, apparently they wanted to recoup the cost by re-using that. And some other great animations.

Hard bodies turning mushy

As related this one showed op, which is pretty good if that is really all just driven by rigid body sim

Dynamics

This movie is brought to you by Remembrance of Drinks Past. I rendered the particles interacting with geometry example I showed in class. Note how as the sphere starts rotating the particles no longer bounce off straight but get deflected in the direction of the turn. That's friction for ya!

I also rendered the simple rigid body example:

Sand Art is UH-MAZING!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=vOhf3OvRXKg

She won the Ukraine's version of America's Got Talent. Truly, very creative! And I thought it was a unique way of animating something, here particularly, its sand.

Enjoy!

PS: Don't forget about THE EGG!!
